I stumbled into a small camp, lured by the smell of food. Being a nomad bird kid, one of the lonely ones they tested alone and not with a flock pretty much sucked. And fighting off gangs of Erasers and Flyboys with no help really makes the job a piece o cake, right? I was famished, so I sat down next to a pretty looking chic and -- the cutest looking bird-boy ever. Holy crap, I muttered to myself. I sat down and said, "Hey, you bird kids too? And can I just steal a bite of food? Well, not actually a bite, I'm pretty starving, actually." I rubbed my flat stomach, and pulled back a strand of golden hair. "I'm Amy, by the way."

Angel shot up, "You're a bird kid, too?!" She ran over to where Fang and I were sitting and ran up to the girl.
I was a little confused that some random kid who just happened to have wings like us just happened to find our campsite. But, since she interupted Fang's question, I was fine. I looked at Fang and mouthed "Keep an eye on her." He nodded and turned to the girl.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, grabbing some beef jerky from the bag and handing her a piece.

I put a hand up. "Amy comes in peace." I took a pancake, and swallowed a huge chunk. "I'm scared for my life and groups of hundred or so Flyboys are after me. I'm pretty sure I outran them. Do you not believe me?" I rolled up my jeans, showing numerous black and blues, bleeding cuts with stains seeping through my jeans. "I've been fighting for my life for about forever. And I think my retirement mark is coming up soon." I bit my lip to keep from crying. No way was I crying.

Angel sat down next to Amy and gave her a hug. "Don't cry, Amy."

He pointed to himself and said, "Fang."

"4 in dog years." He answered, wagging his tail.
