I took off, and warned her to be careful.
"The air currents are pretty harsh. We have to fly against them." I yelled over the wind.

We neared the little store placed on the side of the road and I dropped down into the trees. I pulled my wings in and walked accross the road to the front doors.
"Come on!" I motioned for Nudge to come over.
I pushed open the door of the supermarket, and walked to the food isle.
"Hamburgers or hot dogs?" I asked.

Nudge dropped into the trees,tucking in her wings and following him.
"Uh,hot dogs.I think the others except for Gazzy would want hot dogs too," she said after a moment of thought.

I grabbed some armfuls of hot dogs, and grabbed 2 or 3 packages of hamburger meat.
"We don't need buns, do we?" I asked. I walked down the aisle and grabbed 10 or so heads of corn.

I checked the counter. No one was there. "It's like they want us to just leave with the food," I mumbled, walking out the door.

I guess they disabled the alarm or something. It didn't sound this time.

"You ready? It's a lot easier back. Instead of fighting the current, it takes you."

"I know what you're thinking," I said, "But we're all starving and this is the only place for miles. If there was someone watching us, wouldn't they have captured us while we were in the store?" I asked.

I thought for a second, then made a sharp turn right.

"This way, remember?" I lied.

I looked at her, and made eye contact.
"Go along with it," I said with my eyes.

I continued going going in the wrong direction for a while, and I looked back. Thankfully no one seemed to be there. I flew closer to Nudge and said quietly, "Someone might've been following us. And if we took them back there, Max would be dead meat."

I sighed.
"I don't know. It's just...too..wierd." I said. I turned around and started flying in the right direction.
